Love in London

I have recently just left rainy London and I miss it a lot. I know this might sound strange to some of you. Catching a tube in rush hour traffic with your face in somebodies armpit does not sound appealing. But besides the crowds and the rain I miss the loves I left behind.

To get the ideas flowing...

So many characters, so many plots, so many ideas!

Black socks and Italian men

A young friend of mine recently told me a wee story and it reminded me that you can find romance in little gestures. Maybe it's an Italian thing or maybe it's just a guy thing, i'm not sure. But whatever it is it's better than being blinded by the sun.

Out late one night after too many vodka and cokes she went home with a beautiful Italian who did not speak a lot of English. The language barrier did not stop their passion for one another and the night, from what she can remember, was a blast. The morning however was a bit different. This beautiful Italian man did not have any curtains and the sun streamed in through the window at 5am. Needless to say, I think we can all agree that this is not something we like when stupidly hung-over. Not so romantic.

The next weekend she met the beautiful Italian again and they had another night of passion. At 5am the sun streamed through the window and the Beautiful Italian in his broken English said ‘please do not think me weird but I have something for you’. He jumped up and grabbed something out of his wardrobe, lay back down next to my friend and handed her a big black sock. ‘To cover the eyes’ he said as he kissed her ‘and don’t worry they're clean’.

Now that’s romance.

Holiday Romance

Summer, Holiday's and Romance.

I was flicking through an old Vogue and found an inspiring piece on Summer fashion in an always romantic Grace Kelly Style. The shoot in Monte Carlo is based on Hitchcock’s classic To Catch a Thief and the famous Mario Testino shoots Claudia Schiffer as Grace Kelly. It inspired me so much that I went home and watched the 1955 film and adored it.

I have yet to post about romantic films and Alfred Hitchcock's famous portrayals of Norman's mummy issues and killer birds do not immediately bring to mind romance but they certainly do create a great backdrop for a Vogue fashion romantical piece. To Catch a Thief is a different sylte of Hitchcock, lighthearted but still glamorous and sophisticated. Part of its charm are the two stars, of course. And who wouldn't be entertained by Cary Grant and Grace Kelly? As a pair they are the most attractive people to ever grace the silver screen.

I am heading off on a Europe holiday soon and as much as I try I know I will never exude the style of Grace Kelly but a girl can dream...

She can also dream about that Italian man who would look great on the cover of a romance!

Sex in the Burg

Now this is something to get excited about. I couldn't write this blog and not include my favorite writer of all time. Janet Evanonich. She is a Rom Com genuis and I like to think that my style is kind of like hers but a lot less polished.

Stephanie Plum is a Bounty Hunter and attracts trouble like a brown haired, blue eyed, female, Dennis the Menace. She doesn't go looking for it, it somehow finds her. And as bounty hunter trouble can be deadly. The men in her life (besides the ones trying to kill her) are tall, dark and handsome. Her family are a riot and Lula, her sidekick, is side splittingly funny.

I have been reading these books for years and I have the whole series dog eared with the spines broken sitting in my book case. If you need a copy just ask. Otherwise check out her great website where you can read excerpts of the books.

Trust me, you will laugh out loud and the sixteenth book in this series is almost here.

Summer Sun

One of the great seasons for romance is here! Summer conjures up images of sand, skin, holidays and fun. This shot inspires me to write about a rom com in an exotic location. This was taken in Santorini and it was the most romantic place on earth. Every dinner was accompanied with a sunset like this and around every corner was a hero just waiting to be pened on paper.

How romantical.
